ISES Toronto Chapter has a wonderful line up for fall. October 20, join us for an educational session on social networking and learn strategies you need to brand yourself in this new medium. More details below!
Mark your calendars for Monday, November 9th for the event industry's favourite celebration of the year - the ISES Toronto Gala & Auction. This evening will be red hot so we want everyone to join us - all welcome! Be sure to invite anyone you know in the event industry.
2010 is gearing up to be an intriguing one with January 19th kicking off the year with a buffet of entertainment. Richmond Hill Centre for Performing Arts will host ISES Toronto Chapter and friends for a celebration of over 8 acts in one night. See new options for entertainment and attend the educational session on how to negotiate entertainment riders in contracts.
Are you up for a pillow fight? We're anticipating the June ISES Toronto event to sell out quickly as it's the chapter's first overnight venue crawl showcasing spaces north of Hwy#9. Be sure to hop on the bus with us!
As our chapter begins another new season we want to remind professionals in our industry that now more than ever it's important to retain memberships in industry associations. The event industry is once again flowing. The only way not to be left behind or feel irrelevant in this revitalized industry is to keep networking and stay in touch with industry professionals. ISES is an excellent platform to maintain and grow your brand.
Hope to see you at the next meeting!
Cheers,
Rachel Mangal

ISES TORONTO SEPTEMBER EVENT -
Embrace Change or Become Irrelevant
On Monday, September 21 ISES Toronto Chapter held its first event of the new season. The event took place at Amsterdam Brewery where guests enjoyed a tour of the brewery and delicious appetizers from en ville catering.Ken Kristoffersen CSEP, CEM, CEC, President/Creative Director of experiential events corp, was the evening's speaker. His discussion on the effect of the recession and his experience working through it captivated the group.
"Wow factor", "fun" and "entertaining" are words you should NOT be using in your proposals if you want to gain a contract. Ken explained this and how carefully wording your proposal with strategic motivational phrases can impress a CEO in this economy.
He also went through his 20 rules to live by as an event professional, which were truly inspiring. Ken highlighted the importance of ISES and using it to share ideas with others and to grow and help each other - which is what ISES is all about.
