President's Message
Rachel Mangal

rachel@strategyinstitute.com

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving and are enjoying the trees changing colour and the crisp smell of the season. Ontario is beautiful this time of year. Take a deep breath and know that you're in the crunch of the busy season - and be thankful. Our event industry has plugged along and we are still here - and somehow busier than ever!

Companies who had adjusted their rates and implemented inventive ways to provide more value to their stakeholders have successfully ridden the lowest slump of this recession wave. With growth on the horizon, our Ontario event industry outlook is promising.

Take some time out to jot down your goals for 2010 as it’s right around the corner. I hope that one of your goals will be to become more active with our Chapter. Attending ISES Toronto events are the perfect outlet for event industry professionals to keep their corporate brand and image active. Show our membership that your company is still active in the industry - come out to our next event.

Be sure to attend our next event, the Annual Holiday Gala, November 9th. See more details in the newsletter.

Cheers,
Rachel Mangal
President
ISES Toronto Chapter
2009/2010

ISES TORONTO CHAPTER EVENT RECAP

On Tuesday, October 20th, ISES Toronto held its monthly meeting at Oasi. It was a fantastic evening that began with a mix and mingle and then a tour of the venue. A 3 course dinner was provided by OASi consisting of a deliciously warm soup, a chicken entre and decedent dessert. The meal was followed by the evenings presentation by Lara McCulloch Carter on "Building a Standout Brand-using social media".

Lara's presentation was very engaging and informative. She explained how personal branding is very important and reputation is the new currency. There are 3 "must use" tools - Blog's, LinkedIn and Twitter.

For more social media tips and tools, follow Lara on her blog at www.ready2spark.com/

We hope to see you at our Gala on November 9th!!! It is the biggest event of the year!
